The Lazy Dog

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

A group of animals were preparing to go to a nearby rice field because it was harvest time. It was the custom of the people in the merrymaking. It was to take place after the harvest.

One of the animals, the dog, was too lazy to go with the others. He preferred to sleep instead of looking for something to eat. So when the group departed, he just slept.

When the group came back, each was full and satisfied. They too, enjoyed the merrymaking and the food. Each of them was also carrying some leftovers. The dog who was now so hungry after a long sleep asked each one of the animals for a little food but nobody wanted to give him even a small piece of meat

The Beautiful Butterfly

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Once there was a big butterfly that wanted to show the world how beautiful she was. She was the envy of all the butterflies and dragonflies in the field. To make everybody envious even more, she would fly and fly high and low and kiss the flowers in the garden every morning, flapping her colorful and magnificent wings gracefully.

Her parents would always tell her not to display herself too much in the open or she might get caught by children and butterfly collectors. But she wouldn’t listen to them. Until one morning, she was trapped into a net and a pair of big hands captured her.

She was killed and dried and was pasted on a board covered with glass. Her wish that the world would see her beauty was granted. She was in a frame displayed in a museum

The Dirty Cat

Monday, November 24th, 2008

One day, a woman saw a dirty cat on her way home from the market. The cat was thin and it looked hungry. The woman took pity at it and took it home. She bathed the cat until it was so clean and smelled good. Then she gave it food and the cat ate until it was full.

The cat finally found a home. The woman was so kind to it that she let it live in her house. But alas, when ever the woman was not around, the cat would eat whatever food was there in the table. It had its way of skillfully snatching a piece of meat or fish even when the woman was around.

The woman got angry at the cat and drove it away with a broom stick.
